Event Overview

Free Training & Exclusive stuff?! Join us in-store Thursday, April 25 at 5.11 Gurnee for a free Pistol Basics course presented by professional shooter Becky Yackley. All attendees will receive an exclusive and limited edition ranger eye ABR Academy course patch with purchase.

What do you need to know before you buy a pistol? Are there pistols that are more suited to women, or is your choice dictated by technique and what purpose you have a pistol for? What do you need to know about grip, stance, and trigger control that you should learn before you ever head to the range? Becky along with her husband and son, will be in-store to educate attendees on the basics of firearms and answer any questions you may have.

** Personal firearms all are NOT permitted. Training handguns will be available for use. **

Becky began her career shooting in 1989, and has competed across more disciplines than most people ever try: from service rifle to NCAA air rifle to IPSC & USPSA. She instructs mostly youth during camps for a 501c.3, 2A Heritage, and has been teaching her sons who are national and world-ranked competitors. Becky is a 3x National Champion in Ladies Metallic sight at Bianchi Cup and the 2018 World Action Pistol Ladies Metallic Champ. She has competed in Italy, Russia, and France representing the USA in IPSC rifle and shotgun. She writes and influences through outlets like Women’s Outdoor News, working to share her love for firearms with more women.

Becky’s husband, Mark, is a Firearms Instructor for the WI State Patrol as well as for the USMC. Her son Tim is a 4x Junior National Champion, Grand Master USPSA shooter, as well as a firearms instructor.
