Where were you on 9/11?
5.11 Tactical raises funds and encourages everyone to “Never Forget”

Modesto, CA – How can each of us honor and support the victims and public safety officers as we remember September 11, 2001?  We all remember where we were, who we were with, how we heard of the devastating events of that fateful day in our history.  Most will never forget.

“Never Forget” has become the heart of the 5.11 Tactical plan to honor and support not only the public service officers who valiantly served on 9/11, but also those who serve now. The tactical apparel company has created a special logo, a fund-generating clothing line and a facebook page to honor and support those affected by the events of 9/11.

Dan Costa, CEO for 5.11 Tactical shares his memory, “I had just landed in Chicago and noticed that people were staring at the television screens.  The pictures showed smoke pouring from the first tower and the 2nd tower being hit – we were under attack. All I could think about were the people in New York City, the emergency crews, and all of the families impacted. I will NEVER forget.”

5.11 Tactical created The911Tribute facebook page (www.facebook.com/The911Tribute) paying tribute to public service officers.  It offers everyday Americans the opportunity to honor public service officers and also tell their own stories.  The cross section of memories and sharing shows again how September 11, 2001 impacted so many.

The entries on The911Tribute facebook page range from a mother’s memory: “I was getting my kids ready for school. They were 4 & 7 and, as the reels played throughout the day, they wondered why the fires were still burning,” to a public safety officer sharing “I was teaching 35 new police recruits that morning when my SWAT pager went off alerting me to the attacks. We had a TV in the training area. I just vividly recall the sickness and heartbreak I immediately felt.”

Public service officers developed a special 911 Tribute logo. It is fitting that this logo not only features the Twin Towers, the Pentagon and the United flight number that went down over Pennsylvania, but also the words “Never Forget”.  The 911 Tribute logo will embellish a special product line to raise funds for three funds.  5.11 Tactical will donate 100% of the net profits from the sale of these products to the three tribute funds (see below).   The products are available to order at www.511tactical.com/911tribute.html.

The goal is to donate $250,000 to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and $250,000 each to the two sides of the FDNY Foundation: EMS operations and fire services. The program allows everyone to show support of the public safety officers by purchasing an item and wearing your support.

How will you remember, honor and support the victims of September 11, 2001 and public safety officers?  Join the fundraising effort, share your gratitude, and show that you will “never forget.”
